NePoPoⓇ Silver School Training

The Language of Modern Dog Training

Silver School Training

March 27-29 I had the opportunity to attend a NePoPo Silver School Training in Springfield, MO.  This is a global training system founded by Bart and Michael Bellon (www.nepopotraining.com).  There are participants from around the world with my class including approximately 37 different states and countries represented.

The participants ranged from very experienced trainers and handlers to novices just starting out on their journey.  The Silver School builds the foundation with the emphasis on the methodology.  The Silver school does not actually include any dogs, though Loki did come with me.  The amount of information at times seemed overwhelming, but the instructors and their team made sure we understood the material.  Many graduates of the Gold School attend to assist the students and the instructors.

The emphasis is on the communication between the dog and the trainer.  How do we train in a way that the dogs truly understand what we are asking of them.  If that communication is clear the success will come and the dog will be happy performing the tasks.  The capabilities of dogs are limitless and with the skills I learned during the course proved this to me.

I will continue to learn and improve as a trainer so that I can better serve the Veterans and First Responder communities.
